To enhance women participation and representation in Local governments in Sinjar district. Women Empowerment organization held a conference under the title of supporting a campaign to enhance the contribution of woman and representation in local government in the Sinjar district.

A workshop was organized by WEO with the support of UN Women on UNSCR 1325 regarding women, peace, and security. The workshop took place on 26th February, 2017 at Nobel Hotel, and was attended by judicial investigators and police

On Wednesday 18-1-2017 Ministry of Interior-Baghdad held a workshop under the title of “Implementation of National Action Plan I-NAP 1325, in cooperation with Alliance 1325 and support from UK embassy. “The workshop was held by the Representative of ministry of interior to present the 1325 Alliance team of MOI-Baghdad and the Implementation of National Action Plan I-NAP 1325 In Baghdad and Iraqi Governorates.

Democratic Women Organization, a member of Alliance 1325, held a workshop on 11/02/2017 with the support of the British Embassy to raise awareness on INAP (women, peace, and security). The aim of the workshop was to explain the objectives of the National Action Plan for the implementation of resolution 1325 and the emergency plan.

On the 15th of Jan 2017, WEO arranged a field study trip to the Netherlands, The Hague for the Iraqi 1325 Cross Sector Task Force (CSTF) members which included senior representatives from Kurdistan Region Government (KRG) and Iraqi government as well as representatives from 1325 Alliance in Iraq and the CSOs.

On Thursday Nov 9th, 2016 Cross Sector Task Force Coordination team and Representatives of Alliance 1325 arranged a meeting in Baghdad. The Main Purpose of the meeting was to focus on the coordinators to study the significant of Alliance 1325 Work in term of following up the negotiation committee and peace building related to the national reconciliation and the extend of women`s participation in this respect.

On 27th October 2016 The High-Level Conference on the implementation of the NAP1325 in Iraq took place in Baghdad. It was organized by the Cross Sector Task Force and the coordinator Ms. Suzan Aref, for the implementation of the NAP 1325 in Iraq in partnership with Euromed Feminist Initiative and with the financial support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Iraq. The conference gathered the ministerial and institutional teams from the Task Force with members of parliament, legal experts and women’s rights organizations, as well as representatives from UN agencies and international community, to mark the anniversary of UNSCR1325 on women, peace and security and discuss during one day the level of the implementation of the NAP1325 in Iraq. The participants also discussed responsibilities of the Task Force, propositions for changing of laws that hamper the implementation of UNSCR1325, the involvement of the civil society in the implementation and monitoring of the NAP as well as role of the international community in supporting NAP.
